Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and six (6) years' experience in software installation, configuration and support in Linux and Windows environments or Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field and eight (8) years' experience in software installation, configuration and support in Linux or Windows environments or twelve (12) years' experience in software installation, configuration and support in Linux or Windows environments.

Demonstrable ability to manage Apache and IIS, provide programming support in Java, C, Linux shell, Python and PowerShell languages at an intermediate level; Demonstrable ability to build and integrate open-source and commercial software into diverse implementations to support the infrastructure needs of the institution; Experience with VMware virtualization technology; Demonstrable oral and written communication skills; Ability to work effectively with users.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience with NetApp. Experience with VMware and/or Citrix virtualization technology. Networking knowledge, including knowledge of major protocols and the ability to use tools like Wireshark and tcpdump. Previous installation, management, and understanding of SAML, CAS, and web security protocols. Experience with Oracle, MySQL, and JDBC/ODBC tools. Experience in Azure and/or AWS. Experience in Linux and Windows support in a post-secondary educational environment.

Nature and Scope of Duties: The Senior Systems and Network Specialist reports to the Manager of Networks and Systems and performs the following duties:

• Provides installation, configuration, programming and support of college-adopted microcomputer operating systems, server operating systems, microcomputer and server application software, and web deployment software in a large server environment to address the needs and requirements of students, faculty and staff for items shown by, but not limited to, the following list:
  
  
• Responsible for maintenance and security of operating system software, application software, web deployment software, data integrity, user accounts, virtual environments.
  
  
• Implementation of open source and commercially available software for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  
  
• Security assessments, performance monitoring, and load balancing.
  
  
• Works collaboratively with the infrastructure support staff for maintenance, problem resolution, and upgrade of installed college-adopted microcomputer, server, and web deployment software.
  
  
• Provides consultative support on microcomputer, server, and web deployment information technology issues to other departmental staff.
  
  
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills with current information technology systems.
  
  
• Co-maintain the ACE VDI classroom virtual Windows 10 image (or any other image necessary both in Citrix and VMware).
  
  
• Performs related duties as assigned by the Manager of Networks and Systems.
  
  
  
  The Salary Range is $60,000-$70,000
