Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a reference and background check.Instructor, AcademicsEOC-FAC-8962Qualifications for EmploymentEducation (Minimum Requirements):Bachelors Degree in Education, English, Reading, or related field;Appropriate coursework in Mathematics;Two years teaching experience.Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in related fieldInstructional experience preferably with an ethnically diverse populationAbility to work with individuals in an enthusiastic and encouraging way;Excellent oral and written communication skills.Nature and Scope of DutiesThe Instructor reports to the Coordinator of Instructional Services and performs the following duties: Conducts classes in academic areas, particularly High School Equivalency, classes for students preparing for the New York State General Education Development examination, and related Mathematics courses; Assists in the placement of students in suitable employment or further academic study; Prepares all necessary reports; Attends meetings as required; Participates in required assessment sessions as dictated by program; Meets with Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services outside of class time to discuss progress and other student related issues; Works with both EOC staff and those from outside agencies, as necessary and required, to meet the needs of the program and its students; Assists in the personal and vocational development of students and the development of student leadership skills; Provides informal crisis intervention; Responsible for the formulation and ongoing revision of the curriculum for the program; Assists in orientation procedures for new students; Implements attendance policies and procedures as dictated by the Center and the program; Works as a member of a total staff team, integrating site learning with academic learning as appropriate; Participates in special projects as required; Work location may be Troy or Albany; Performs other related duties as assigned.This is a full-time position with a salary of $50,000.00.Hudson Valley offers a full benefit package including Health Insurance, Dental and Eye Insurance, Retirement, employee and employees spouse and children free tuition waivers.
