Job Description:
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located
in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in
Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and
certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts;
Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
(STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State
University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000
students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career
and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance
learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson
Valley has an extension center in Malta, NY known as HVCC North and
sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in

Applications are being accepted for the position of Development
Officer on the Non-Teaching Professional staff in the Office of
Institutional Advancement.

and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of
experience in fundraising, or a professional environment,
non-profit setting preferred, which should include a broad exposure
to various components of an advancement operation including annual
campaigns (unrestricted and restricted), leadership corporate
giving solicitation, and a working knowledge of marketing,
communications, event planning and social media required. Must
demonstrate a proven track record of cultivating one-on-one
relationships with potential donors, including soliciting and
closing leadership-level annual and major gifts. Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in all
Microsoft Office applications, working knowledge of donor database
software (Raiser's Edge strongly and Academic Works preferred),
first-hand knowledge of the local philanthropic and corporate
community, experience managing staff, board and community
volunteers, and time spent in a foundation and/or development
office required. Must be able to attend early morning, evening and
weekend events and work with a team in a fast-paced
environment.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
The Development Officer reports to the Chief Advancement Officer
and/or their designee and performs the following duties:
1. Will be responsible for the supervision of the Alumni
Relations/Special Coordinator. And will act as the department
liaison for the Chief Advancement Officer in his/her absence.
2. Responsible for major gifts, scholarship development the annual
campaign, special events sponsorships, alumni relations and the
corporate and employee giving programs.
3. Working with the Alumni Relations Annual Fund Coordinator
develops support materials for the implementation of the annual
campaign strategy, including, budgets, timelines, direct mail,
telemarketing, electronic giving strategy, electronic
communications/solicitations, timing, audience segmentation,
tailored messaging, marketing inserts, plus special event
invitations and programs.
4. Meets established fundraising goals for annual, corporate and
special campaigns, and Foundation events and develops a pipeline
for leadership and major gift prospects/donors.
5. Conducts an average of 10 - 15 monthly face-to-face
donor/prospect visits including 4 non-donor discovery visits with a
focus on leadership-level annual gifts.
6. Develop on- campus relationships to support philanthropic giving
and program initiative, including annual employee appeal.
7. Working with the Alumni Relations Coordinator, cultivates,
solicits, and stewards a large portfolio of alumni and non-alumni
donors/prospects. Supports alumni chapter events.
8. Develops steady and increasing revenue streams for unrestricted
and restricted gifts, including but not limited to challenge and
matching gifts.
9. Support the Advancement Operations and Campaign Administer in
prospect research for new donor engagement and campaign
administration
10. Develops strategy to engage and connect "corporate" alumni to
the College and significantly increase alumni giving/participation
rates.
11. Prepares Foundation, private and corporate grant proposals and
identifies grant funding opportunities for campus program
initiatives.
12. Prepares and produces with the assistance of the Chief
Advancement Officer, foundation and advancement marketing materials
including newsletters, brochures, programs, solicitation letters,
acknowledgment letters, donor reports and the annual Impact
Report.
13. Performs additional tasks as assigned to further advance the
Mission of the College and the Foundation.
This is a Full-Time position with a salary range of
$50,000-$55,000.
