Are you ready to change the world? Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks candidates for Director of Media Relations. We are seeking an experienced media relations professional with a passion for higher ed and STEM, and an upbeat attitude to join our Strategic Communications team. The Director will develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute among local, national and international media.
The successful candidate will direct and lead all aspects of the Rensselaer's media relations program, supervise staff, provide strategic media relations counsel to the institute's leaders, cultivate strong relationships with members of the media, and serve as a spokesperson.
If you have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, media relations, web-based communications or a science-related discipline plus seven (7) years of professional experience as a news reporter, and/or public relations or communications professional, this job may be for you. We are seeking an individual with experience proactively pitching and placing stories with national and international news media. Candidates must have a current understanding of higher education, as well as an appreciation of and high degree of comfort level with STEM-related content.
